FULL-TIME TENURE TRACK FACULTY – COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS: CYBERSECURITY
WILBUR WRIGHT COLLEGE AND HUMBOLDT PARK VOCATIONAL EDUCATION CENTER


The Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department of Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, seeks an innovative, collaborative, and technologically astute tenure-track cybersecurity instructor effective Fall 2024.

Students have the opportunity to learn computer applications, computer programming, cybersecurity, networking, and web development via the college’s instructional offerings.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaches introductory and upper level content courses in cybersecurity.
  • Collaborates to evaluate and update curriculum and courses.
  • Participates in developing innovative curriculum, assessment, and programs.
  • Works with faculty and administrators throughout the district to create a pathway for student success in transfer and workforce readiness.
  • Creates an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.
  • Employs a variety of assessment measures to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and attainment of student learning outcomes for course(s).
  • Helps students reach their academic, personal, and career goals, and cultivates a safe environment that respects the diversity of individuals and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
  • Participates in faculty development and governance activities, including periodic service as department chair.
  • Adheres to City Colleges of Chicago board rules, policies, procedures, and code of ethics.
  • Fulfills other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Information Security with concentration in Cybersecurity or related area of specialization or equivalent. Industry recognized certifications or related work experience can substitute for the degree concentration requirement; related area of specialization includes but is not limited to Information Security, Information Systems Management, Network Security, Information Assurance, Digital Forensics, Incident Response, etc.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles.
  • Proficient in programming languages with an emphasis on Python.
  • Work experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure.
  • Advanced level knowledge across multiple operating systems and end-user applications.
  • Advanced level knowledge of coding and program design in multiple languages and platforms.
  • Teaching or training experience, preferably in a technical or community college.
  • Demonstrated skill in teaching cybersecurity concepts to students in various modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online).
  • Demonstrated skill teaching cybersecurity concepts to students at different ability levels.
  • Experience in developing innovative cybersecurity curriculum at the college level.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and appreciation for the community college philosophy and approach to teaching and learning.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and writing skills.
  • Ability and willingness to teach and travel between Wilbur Wright College and Humboldt Park Vocational Education Center, as needed.
