TRUMAN COLLEGE

Harry S Truman College, one of the largest and most diverse of the City Colleges of Chicago, is looking to hire tenure-track faculty to teach physics and physical science classes in the Department of Physical Science & Engineering. The successful candidate will bring expertise in Physics in order to develop new educational material, assist with curriculum review and assessment, perform professional duties and participate in departmental, institutional and District-wide functions including department meetings and committee work.

Faculty are responsible for preparing and teaching courses which include teaching labs and performing all necessary grading for the courses they teach. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the mission of an urban community college, bring a passion for teaching, and a desire to support and mentor Truman College students as they pursue educational and career goals. This is a full-time 9-month position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Earned Minimum of a Master’s degree in Physics or Engineering Physics from a regionally accredited higher education institution.

·       Ability to teach courses within the department

·       Commitment to supporting an inclusive environment on campus

·       Evidence of respect for and an understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs

·       Evidence of commitment to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college

·       Evidence of knowledge and proficiency with educational technology

·       Commitment to continued professional growth

·       Evidence of effective communication (interpersonal, speaking, and writing) skill

·       Finalists will be required to submit official transcripts and to provide a teaching demonstration
