PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor - Business Sector Strategy, the Program Director-Business & Technology Initiatives is responsible for leading two high-impact workforce development initiatives at City Colleges of Chicago (CCC). This position will oversee the TechQuity initiative, which focuses on increasing diversity and equity in business and technology career pathways, and the Sales Career Pathway program, which aims to equip students with in-demand sales skills through both non-credit and credit-based programs.
The Program Director will be responsible for program implementation, employer engagement, student success, and program expansion district-wide, ensuring that the programs remain aligned with industry needs and workforce development priorities. This role will also ensure that programs uphold their commitments to students, employer partners, and funders while serving as models for industry-aligned workforce training at CCC. Performs related duties as required.
This position is grant-funded and will be funded through December 31, 2026.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
TechQuity Program Leadership

Manages TechQuity grant program funding, ensuring financial accountability, compliance with funding requirements, and long-term program sustainability.

Develops and execute a comprehensive marketing and outreach plan to recruit prospective students for the Fall 2025 cohort, with a focus on underrepresented groups in business and technology fields.

Secures and maintains employer partnerships through MOUs and hiring agreements to establish structured job placement pathways for students.

Oversees career coaching, mentorship programs, and certification exam support to increase student success.

Tracks, analyzes, and reports on key performance indicators, such as certification completion, job placement rates, and employer satisfaction metrics.

Provides leadership and day-to-day management to program staff, ensuring effective team collaboration and performance that prioritizes student success.
Sales Career Pathway Program Leadership

Engages with the Business & Industry Leadership Team (BILT) advisory council to align the Sales Career Pathway program's curriculum with current and emerging workforce needs in the sales industry.

Collaborates with faculty and curriculum development teams to design and launch the Basic Certificate in Sales Fundamentals, Advanced Certificate in Sales Management, and the AAS in Sales Management & Leadership degree program.

Supports the development and rollout of the NextGen Sales Academy, an innovative 8-week non-credit Sales Continuing Education program, as well as credit-based Sales certificates and degree programs, to provide a comprehensive training pathway for students.

Implements proactive employer engagement strategies to expand industry partnerships, internships, and mentorship opportunities, ensuring students gain practical experience and exposure to potential employers.

Leads the marketing, recruitment, and outreach efforts for the first and subsequent cohorts,.

Establishes and monitors program evaluation metrics, including student enrollment, retention, job placement, and employer satisfaction, to ensure program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Cross-Program Responsibilities

Ensures both programs integrate with CCC’s broader workforce development initiatives and grant-funded projects.

Develops and manage partnerships with employers, faculty, and CCC leadership to sustain program growth.

Collaborates with Career Development Services to provide seamless support for students transitioning from training programs to employment.

Creates and oversees tracking systems and performance dashboards for both programs, utilizing data to assess impact, identify trends, and support ongoing program improvement and sustainability.

Fosters a culture of collaboration and shared leadership, working across CCC campuses and external partners to advance workforce initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Workforce Development, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree preferred.

A minimum of five years of professional work experience in program administration, workforce development, higher education, or employer partnerships

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered at management’s discretion, provided the minimum degree requirement is met.

Experience managing industry partnerships (required), and experience developing career pathways (preferred), that lead to successful hiring pipelines

Experience working in a large, urban community college setting or an institution of higher education highly desirable

Experience managing grant-funded programs preferred

Experience in staff supervision, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration preferred

Familiarity with tracking and reporting on program outcomes using data-driven approaches to measure success and inform decision-making

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Strong collaboration and leadership skills, with a proven track record of working effectively in a cross functional team environment

Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Proficient in financial management and budget oversight, ensuring resources are used effectively and responsibly

Ability to lead and develop program staff, fostering a high-performance team culture and promoting professional growth

Ability to work with and relate to a culturally diverse student body and staff

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
