TENURE TRACK FACULTY - PHYSICS
TRUMAN COLLEGE 
 

Harry S Truman College is currently seeking a Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty to teach Physics in the physical science department. Primary academic assignment responsibilities will commence in Fall 2025. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Demonstrate excellence in teaching; integrate technology to enhance student learning and engagement; inspire, motivate, and empower students.

·        Develop and design courses by utilizing student-learning outcomes to guide course instruction.

·        Incorporate strategies to improve student engagement and student retention.

·        Compile, administer, and grade examinations; record and submit grades electronically using the college’s database.

·        Hold office hours for student conferences and other instructional support needs like mentoring and advising.

·        Complete all mandatory midterm/final grading and active pursuit certifications required by the college.

·        Navigate and make use of a Learning Management System (LMS) to support classroom instruction.

·        Administer programmatic evaluations.

·        Attend departmental/college-wide meetings; and participate in various department and or college-wide activities or committees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Earned Minimum of a Master’s degree in Physics or Engineering Physics from a regionally accredited higher education institution.

·        Ph.D. in Physics or relevant field preferred

·        Knowledge of Bright space learning management system

·        Teaching experience with a diverse, student population is desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.

·        Strong knowledge of assessment and the role it plays in the teaching and learning environment.

·        Time Management and Task Management Skills

·        Collaborative, Team, and Goal-Oriented

·        Excellent oral and written communication skills

·        Proficient with Microsoft Office

Salary Range is $58,000.00 - $65,000.00

This position is represented by Local 1600 Union.

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within six months of hire.
