ADJUNCT - COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP
KENNEDY-KING COLLEGE

Kennedy-King College (KKC), Career and Technical Education (CTE) is seeking part-time faculty to teach Community Leadership. If you have passion for teaching, learning, and are committed to the mission of the community college, consider joining our team. This position supports academic student success specifically focusing on student learning of the skills, abilities, and general education outcomes expected of a graduate. The ideal candidate values students’ ideas and opinions, understands, and has compassion for the unique KKC student population (approachable, welcoming, empathetic, accessible, and caring). 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support academic student success specifically focusing on student learning of the skills, abilities, and general education outcomes expected of a graduate.
  • Seek and work to find new ways to present materials to make sure that every student understands the key concepts.
  • Create an academic environment within the classroom that promotes “inquiry, creativity, practice, and social responsibility in ways consistent with the college mission.
  • Facilitate learning in and out of the classroom using multiple methods that are cognitively challenging, requiring thinking and analysis, not only rote, receptive memorization.
  • Set high expectations for all students and understand that how those expectations affect student learning and achievement. Makes decisions about development and delivery of instruction focus on “what is best for students”.
  • Understand the importance of SLOs in course design, content delivery, assessment, and/or improvement.
  • Display the capacity to reflect on one’s practice to engage in a process of continuous improvement of learning within the classroom and professionally.
  • Express the importance of being engaged in the activities of the college in matters beyond direct teaching responsibilities, such as policy decisions, advising, curriculum development, tenure, committee work, accreditation, administrative responsibilities, student activities, and service. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s in Social Science or 5 years of experience in community organization.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Brightspace, or Learning Management System (LMS), or GradesFirst, or other retention platforms preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse groups of staff and students.
