The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) Wellness Centers provide counseling, case management and other social services to support students in maintaining their personal well-being and achieving their academic goals.

Located at each of the seven colleges, Wellness Centers provide best-practices mental health and psycho-social services to students, faculty, and staff including: crisis intervention, case management with linkage to community-based resources and public aid programs; individual counseling, support groups, evaluation for learning disabilities, wellness education and outreach; and consultation and training for faculty and staff.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Reporting to the Lead Psychologist & Training Director and under general supervision, the Staff Psychologist-Wellness Center (PT Exempt) provides a range of psychological assessment and outreach services to students, faculty, and staff.  Participates in the areas of clinical services, graduate-level training program, wellness initiatives and daily operations.  Has primary clinical supervision of assigned graduate level trainees and collaboratively participates in the group training of all graduate-level trainees participating in the Clinical Training Program. Contributes to the best-practices operations of the Wellness Center and participates in promoting a holistic plan of health and wellness initiatives for CCC students. Performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

·       May be assigned by the Lead Psychologist & Training Director to provide as-needed day-to-day direction of clinical activities and monitoring of all trainee services provided.  May be assigned to address administrative-level time-sensitive concerns, inter-department meetings, or requested consultations.

·       Contributes to the development and implementation of evidence-based and best practices initiatives and services.

·       Assists in identifying and developing additional clinical competency training materials for graduate-level trainees.

·       Contributes to the ongoing development of the training program, including the recruitment, interviewing and monitoring of the graduate-level trainees.

·       Provides doctoral-level clinical supervision to graduate-level trainees.

·       Supervises doctoral-level trainees in psychological assessments and report writing. 

·       Conducts psychological assessments.

·       Participates in triage of walk-in clients or crisis counseling or services. Meets with walk-in clients to assess their immediate or emergency needs, and provides crisis counseling and intervention services as needed or delegates appropriately to clinical staff or graduate level trainees.

·       Provides referrals to appropriate health and social service agencies for additional services as required.

·       Conducts best practices crisis assessment and intervention and arranges emergency psychiatric assessment, as needed.

·       Serves as consultant to college staff and faculty for student development issues, behavioral threat assessment, classroom behavioral management, and the overall behavioral health of the college community.

·       Develops and implements educational and prevention outreach programming, especially for undeserved or special populations, which demonstrates cultural responsiveness.

·       Conducts workshops and professional development for students, faculty and staff on critical topics such as Mental Health 101, stress and time management, violence prevention/verbal de-escalation, healthy relationships, and veteran’s issues.

·       Maintains case records and data on services provided by the Wellness Center and creates reports evaluating the effectiveness of services using Titanium medical records system and Counseling Center Assessment Psychological Symptoms (CCAPS).

·       Creates and maintains a professional, welcoming environment for individuals visiting the Wellness Center for services and information.

QUALIFICATIONS

·       Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or closely related field.

·       Only those who have held a license as a doctoral-level Psychologist (Illinois or another state) for a minimum of two (2) years will be considered.

·       Active licensure by the State of Illinois as a Clinical Psychologist within six (6) months of hire is required.

·       At least two (2) years of experience providing psychological assessment services.

·       At least two (2) years of experience providing clinical supervision to doctoral-level trainees. (This may include those trainees at the internship or post-doctoral level.)

·       Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in working with a multi-cultural population and demonstrate a commitment to providing culturally competent services to our diverse student population.

·       Knowledge and experience in administration of psychological assessment tools including cognitive, achievement, and personality measures.

·       Knowledge of clinical supervision theories and/or styles.

·       Knowledge of individual and group psychotherapy and counseling theories and practices.

·       Knowledge of case management and coordinated care techniques.

·       Knowledge of treatment principles, modalities and techniques.

·       Knowledge of community resources and social service agencies.

·       Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

·       Excellent organizational skills.

·       Skill in applying solid clinical judgment to cases.

·       Ability to shift between clinical and non-clinical duties to meet organizational needs.

·       Ability to work with and relate to a culturally diverse student body, faculty and staff.

·       Ability to work effectively with different levels of staff within the organization.

·       Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·       Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

Salary range - $33.77 - $41.83 a hour
