PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
The Lecturer-Continuing Education (Information Technology PT) is responsible for delivering instruction in Continuing Education Information Technology courses, as well as courses that support technology-related skill development, digital literacy, and tech-adjacent professional and personal development.
The ideal candidate will possess substantial professional experience in their subject area and demonstrate a passion for facilitating engaging and practical learning experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Develop and/or teach courses to meet learning outcomes and promote students’ active participation in their own learning.
· Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and help students solve problems using discipline-specific strategies.
· Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and achievement of learning outcomes.
· Identify and utilize materials that align with learning objectives and encourage students to stay informed about industry trends.
· Help students reach their academic, personal, and career goals while fostering a safe environment that respects diversity and encourages confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
· Adhere to City Colleges of Chicago code of ethics, Board rules, and policies.
· Maintain virtual office hours for mentoring and coaching students, as applicable
· Guide students through course labs, practice exams, projects, and portfolio development.

QUALIFICATIONS
· Demonstrated passion around the information and operational technology industries and familiarity with industry events and knowledge sources
· Extensive experience in the subject area(s) to be taught.
· Strong communication and presentation skills.
· Ability to create a positive learning environment and adapt to diverse student needs.
· Proficiency with technology and instructional tools.
· Coaching, mentoring, or training experience.
· Experience developing curricula or training programs preferred.
· Demonstrated ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to diverse learners.
· Proven commitment to integrating new and emerging technologies into the learning process.
· Strong coaching skills with the ability to inspire and motivate students to actively engage in their learning
· Proficiency in navigating and maintaining high quality engagement with online environments and platforms for virtual courses.
· Ability to work onsite as needed for in-person courses, meetings, and events (if applicable)
$35 - $85
Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.
