Kennedy-King College is currently seeking a Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty for Physics. If you have passion for teaching and learning and are committed to the mission of the community college, consider joining our team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving. Faculty are responsible for preparing and teaching courses which include teaching labs and performing all necessary grading for the courses they teach. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the mission of an urban community college, bring a passion for teaching, and a desire to support and mentor Kennedy-King College students as they pursue educational and career goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned Minimum of a Master’s degree in Physics or Engineering Physics from a regionally accredited higher education institution. 

  • Ability to teach courses within the department

  • Commitment to supporting an inclusive environment on campus

  • Evidence of respect for and an understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs

  • Evidence of commitment to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college

  • Evidence of knowledge and proficiency with educational technology

  • Commitment to continued professional growth

  • Evidence of effective communication (interpersonal, speaking, and writing) skill

  • Finalists will be required to submit official transcripts and to provide a teaching demonstration

The salary range for this position is $58,000 - $65,000. 
Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education.

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
