FULL-TIME FACULTY TENURE TRACK – MIDWIFERY

Kennedy-King College is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Full-Time Faculty Member for the Midwifery Program to help launch and grow this innovative academic offering. This is a unique opportunity to serve as inaugural faculty in a new program dedicated to preparing future Licensed Midwives to provide high-quality, community-centered maternal healthcare and improve health outcomes in underserved populations.

The successful candidate will design, develop, and deliver high-quality instruction in both classroom and clinical settings while fostering student success through mentorship, academic support, and professional guidance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching through the use of effective instructional strategies that engage students in critical thinking, problem-solving, and active learning while addressing diverse learning needs and backgrounds. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•  Develop and maintain course syllabi aligned with student learning outcomes.

• Prepare and deliver lectures, discussions, and instructional activities related to course objectives.

• Design inquiry-based learning activities and instructional strategies that promote student engagement and retention.

• Assess student learning through assignments, examinations, and other evaluation methods.

• Maintain accurate attendance, participation, and academic records.

• Compile, administer, and grade examinations, assignments, projects, and papers.

• Record and submit grades electronically using college systems.

• Utilize instructional technologies and learning management systems to support student learning.

• Maintain office hours and provide academic support and advice to students.

• Mentor students throughout their academic and clinical learning experiences.

• Complete all required grading, assessment, and student progress reporting processes.

• Administer programmatic evaluations and assess student learning outcomes.

• Use assessment data to inform instructional decisions and continuous improvement efforts.

• Attend departmental, divisional, and college-wide meetings.

• Participate in college committees, shared governance, and institutional activities

Minimum Qualifications

• Nationally certified midwife (CPM, CM, or CNM).
• Graduate of a Midwifery Education Accreditation Council (MEAC) or American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) accredited midwifery program.
• Legally recognized and eligible to practice midwifery in the State of Illinois.
• Three (3) or more years of experience as a Certified Professional Midwife or Certified Nurse Midwife in a community-based setting, including home birth and/or birth center practice.

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching experience in a higher education environment.
• Experience developing and delivering curriculum using learning management systems.
• Experience incorporating instructional technology into classroom teaching.
• Experience mentoring students in clinical education environments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong understanding of student assessment and outcomes-based instruction.
• Current knowledge of legal and ethical midwifery practice standards.
• Knowledge of professional certification requirements and accreditation standards related to midwifery education.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong classroom management, organization, and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.

Salary range: $58,000 - $65,000

• Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education.

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within six (6) months of hire.
