FULL-TIME FACULTY TENURE TRACK – MIDWIFERY WORK
KENNEDY-KING COLLEGE
Kennedy King College is currently seeking a Full-Time Faculty to design and deliver instruction to students enrolled in the Midwifery Program. This is an opportunity to serve as inaugural faculty in the new Midwifery program to prepare Licensed Midwives to serve the community. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.
- Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of the student learning outcomes for the course.
- Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals and foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
- Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academic and professional communities and promote collaboration and teamwork among members of these communities.
- Provide instruction during scheduled class time.
- Prepare, deliver, and facilitate class lectures and discussions to students on topics related to course objectives and student learning outcomes.
- Prepare course materials, including course syllabi; evaluate student work/performance; log student participation (i.e., attendance); and develop assessment instruments to measure student learning and other resources necessary to support classroom instruction, etc.
- Compile, administer, and grade examinations; evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers.
- Hold office hours for student conferences and other instructional support needs.
- Participate in various department and or college-wide activities or committees.
- Complete all mandatory midterm/final grading and active pursuit certifications required by the college.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Midwifery or a related field with 5 or more years of experience as a Certified Professional Midwife or Certified Nurse Midwife in the community (home or birth center) setting. OR Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery or a related field with 10 or more years of experience as a Certified Professional Midwife or Certified Nurse Midwife in the community (home or birth center) setting.
- Required professional certifications, including requirements related to CPM/CNM/LM, continuing education related to education and management thereof, and professional requirements for program and college accreditation.
- Two or more years of teaching experience in a higher education setting.
- Experience designing and delivering curriculum using learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Brightspace, or similar platforms)
- Strong knowledge of formative and summative assessment and their role in the teaching and learning environment
- Current knowledge, skills, and attitudes aligned with legal and ethical practices of Midwifery
- Strong time and task management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse groups of students and staff
- Experience supporting a diverse, multilingual student population, with a commitment to the open-access mission of community colleges
- Strong troubleshooting skills; self-motivated, results-driven, and highly organized
- Ability to foster an inclusive and respectful learning environment that supports students’ academic, personal, and career success
- Ability to create engaging learning environments that promote intellectual curiosity and discipline-specific problem-solving skills

Salary range: $58,000 - $65,000
- Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education.

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within six (6) months of hire.
