FULL-TIME TENURE TRACK FACULTY -  AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY
KENNEDY-KING COLLEGE

Kennedy-King College is currently seeking a Full-Time Faculty (Tenure Track) to teach Automotive Technology. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving.  We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Automotive Technology Instructor to help prepare our students for life changing careers. You will plan, prepare, and deliver quality classroom instruction in lecture and/or laboratory formats, based on the approved curricula, and assist in the resolution of student issues, when required.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You must demonstrate excellence in teaching, commitment to integrating new technologies in the learning process and the ability to inspire, motivate and empower students to succeed.
  • You are required to post your syllabi on Learning Management System (Brightspace) and to enter your final grades online in PeopleSoft.
  • Facilitation of Learning. Plan, prepare and deliver instruction and facilitate the learning of students.
  • Curriculum Implementation. Revise, and continually update curriculum and instructional materials which are competency-based, current, consistent with employer expectations, and aligned with the automotive industry and ASE certification.
  • Classroom Management. Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation.
  • Business/Industry/Community Linkages. Develop and deliver customized training for various clients as needed and maintain involvement with business/industry/community through advisory committees, marketing and recruitment efforts, and professional associations and organizations.
  • Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in automotive technology require. Bachelor degree in automotive technology strongly preferred.
  • Must have G1, A2, A3, and A6, certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
  • Three to four years of teaching experience in the field.
  • Strong knowledge of intricate automotive systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work skillfully with highly technical diagnostic equipment, including Scan Tools, Lab Scopes, DVOMs, Air Conditioning Recycling Equipment, Vibration Diagnostic Equipment, etc.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with SMART Board Technology and learning management platforms i.e., Brightspace, preferred.

The salary range for this position is $58,000 - $65,000. 


This position is represented by the Local 1600 Faculty Union.
Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
