FEDERAL WORK STUDY – STUDENT EXPERIENCE AMBASSADOR– OFFICE OF STUDENT EXPERIENCE
WILBUR WRIGHT COLLEGE
City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education.
The Federal Work Study Program (FWS) is a federally-funded financial aid program that provides subsidized part-time employment for eligible students in order to assist them with postsecondary financial needs. City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) complies with the Department of Education’s regulations regarding the FWS program and allows students to benefit from this opportunity.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
The FWS program encourages students to gain experience in their prospective fields by placing them in areas and departments aligned with their area of study whenever possible. Students are able to use their wages towards educational and living expenses.
FWS jobs are available in areas such as academic departments, laboratories, libraries, administrative offices, student centers and several off-campus locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
· Conduct 1:1 or small-group empathy interviews with fellow students on pre-determined topics.
· Take clear, accurate, and objective notes during interviews.
· Transcribe, organize, and submit interview notes in a timely manner using provided templates.
· Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all student interactions.
· Attend required trainings on empathy interviewing, confidentiality, documentation and regular monthly meetings with Project Manager.
· Provide feedback on interview tools and participate in peer learning sessions.
· Collaborate with supervisors and fellow ambassadors to identify themes and insights.
· Support implementation of student surveys.
· Perform basic word processing and data operations in Word, Excel, Qualtrics.
· Provide support on various projects and assignments as needed.
· Provide general office support including but not limited to filing, photocopying, and data entry.
· Provide general customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Eligibility Requirements:
· Applicants must be 16years or older, have work permit consent, and eligible to work in the United States.
· Applicants must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago.
· Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours pre-credit or credit classes.
· Applicants must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate.
· Applicants must have and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (waived for first semester new students).
· Applicants must be in “good standing” – no City Colleges of Chicago academic restrictions.
· Applicants must not be current Full or Part-time employees of the City Colleges of Chicago.
· All positions are “employment at-will”.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Excellent time management and work ethic.
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with peers.
· Ability to conduct interviews in a professional manner, adhering to research guidelines.
· Excellent listening and note-taking skills.
· Interest in student experience, equity, and campus improvement initiatives.
· Responsible, reliable, and able to manage confidential information with care.
· Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
· High School Diploma required or actively pursuing a GED at the City Colleges of Chicago.
· Must be a part of the Students Financial Aid Program and approved for Federal Work Study.
· Must successfully pass CCC hiring process (Including criminal background check & drug screening if sensitive responsibilities are in the job description).
· Promotes a positive role model and favorable public image as City Colleges of Chicago representative.
· Adheres to the City Colleges of Chicago Customer Services Excellence Standards.
Training Provided
· All selected Ambassadors will participate in mandatory training covering empathy interviewing, data collection practices, confidentiality, and student engagement best practices.
Salary
· $17.05 an hour.
· The rate paid is in accordance with City Colleges approved salary scale.
