DIRECTOR - WORK BASED EDUCATION/LEARNING - HEALTH SCIENCES CAREERS & PROGRAMS

Malcolm X College is seeking a Director of Work Based Education and Learning for the Health Sciences Careers and Programs department. Reporting to Dean of Health Sciences, the Director - Work Based Education/Learning serves as an integral part of the Health Sciences Department, supporting the development and expansion of healthcare system partnerships to support all work-based learning components of health science and nursing programs to include clinical settings, work-based learning, and apprenticeships. Supervises and directs a staff of Coordinators – Work Based Learning and support staff.
The Director - Work Based Education/Learning works with key stakeholders in the initiation, development, and maintenance of clinical affiliation agreements and expansion of clinical capacity; conducts assessments of programs’ work-based learning/education components for quality improvement; and serves as a liaison with the Department of Labor in support of on-going development and growth of apprenticeships. Performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Own the process and tracking of attaining clinical affiliation agreements, apprenticeship employer agreements, and certificates of insurance, including initiating and maintaining the agreements.
- Supervise and manage full and part-time coordinators’ site visit frequency and student placement. Provide support with student clinical or work-based placement for various programs.
- Collaborate with other CCC employees to evaluate the clinical or work-based learning site
- needs and areas of potential growth.
- Assist with the collection of data and reports on clinical or work-based learning site utilization, evaluation, and partnership opportunities.
- Manage the daily workflow for collaborating on the clinical affiliation and apprenticeship employer agreements; develop clinical site, work-based, and apprenticeship relationships, placement of students at various sites for Nursing and Health Science Programs.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to evaluate clinical and work-based learning site needs and potential areas of growth.
- Support the process of clinical affiliation and apprenticeship employer agreements, and the certification of insurance for clinical and work-based learning sites.
- Maintain current and develop future relationships with clinical and work-based learning sites for student placement.
- Offer opportunities for potential partners to learn about clinical and work-based learning partnership opportunities including apprenticeships through presentations and networking in collaboration with coordinators.
- Collaborate with colleagues to submit necessary documentation or reporting to accreditors, Department of Labor, or other stakeholders related to clinical or work-based learning.
- Provide guidance and leadership on organization of formal documents and keeping record of all clinical and work-based learning.
- Provide support to students with clinical and work-based learning placements.
- Assist with data collection, reporting and evaluation of clinical and work-based learning sites.
- Supports recognition events and activities of clinical and work-based learning partners.
- Develops associate contracts board reports and service contracts related to clinical and work-based learning needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Health Science, or related field.
- Three years of relevant work experience in health care programs and health services.
- Knowledge of health science programs, curriculum, and administration highly desirable.
- Experience working in an institution of higher education highly desirable.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity.

- Significant interpersonal skills with an ability to navigate conflict resolution.
- Strong decision-making, collaboration, and leadership skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
