City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education. Wilbur Wright College’s Humboldt Park Campus offers several programs of study including: Associate Degree programs; Adult Education - English as a Second Language (ESL) and GED preparation; basic certificate programs; continuing education classes; and information technology (IT) workshops. 


Reporting to the President, the Dean of Humboldt Park Campus provides academic leadership in the development, management, and oversight of credit and non-credit instructional programs. The Dean also manages student services provided at the Center supporting student outreach, admissions, enrollment, and retention; oversees facility support services, including IT, security, maintenance, and facility management operations; and engages in community outreach and relations within the area. Performs related duties as required.  


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers and oversees all credit and non-credit programs offered at Humboldt Park Campus. Works with college administrators to effectively plan and schedule classes at the satellite location.
  • Coordinates and directs the evaluation, review, and implementation of innovative curriculum additions and revisions. Reviews course outlines and syllabi and offers feedback and assistance.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between college administration and faculty to ensure the integrity of the educational programs, the currency of offerings, and the innovation of appropriate new technologies. Responds to and addresses issues or concerns.  
  • Provides leadership in improving educational outcomes. Develops vocational, technical, academic, and job placement programs based on job market and educational needs.
  • Coordinates work efforts with Adult Education, Student Services, and the Office of the Dean of Instruction at Wright campus to ensure students are referred and connected to needed services (i.e. admissions, enrollment, financial aid, wellness).
  • Provides written and verbal feedback on instructional quality according to collective bargaining agreements.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of comprehensive orientation programs for full-time and part-time faculty.
  • Assists the Vice President, Dean of Instruction, and Dean of Academic and Career & Technical Education Programs in the tenure and post-tenure process.
  • Participates in the review and analysis of enrollment data and revising existing or creating new strategies increase enrollment levels.
  • Drives recruitment and outreach efforts for the Center, working closely with marketing and communications in implementing outreach events and activities to successfully promote the Center’s academic programs and increase enrollment.
  • Leads registration activities at Humboldt Park Campus for credit, certificate, adult education, and continuing education programs and offerings.
  • Develops and maintains on-going relationships with local schools, businesses, community organizations, city administration, elected officials and other partners in support of outreach initiatives and recruitment efforts.
  • Writes proposals to obtain funding from state and federal grants, private sector funds, local businesses, and other sources to support specific projects and program initiatives.  
  • Participates in the development of annual department budgets in collaboration with the Business Office. Monitors expenditures and ensures fiduciary responsibility in the allocation and use of funds.
  • Implements procedures for the request, purchase, and maintenance of instructional equipment and supplies; ensures proper inventory control procedures are in place to account for physical property.
  • Oversees the Center’s day-to-day operations, addressing and resolving issues and concerns relating to office operations, student and faculty support functions, and facility maintenance functions (i.e. IT, security, maintenance, engineering) to ensure Center operates efficiently.
  • Cultivates an organizational culture of ethical behavior, positivity, professionalism, employee empowerment, satisfaction, and productivity.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Five to eight years of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience, preferably in a community college setting, with experience in planning, budgeting, recruitment, enrollment management, community relations, and/or developing community partnerships.
  • Bilingual/bicultural Spanish/English highly desirable.
  • Knowledgeable of adult education, career and technical education, higher education accreditation procedures, articulation processes, assessment, and program review.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a learning community that fosters student success.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a technologically integrated environment that fosters innovation within a learning community.
  • Demonstrated ability in building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, multiculturalism, and urban education.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings/weekends as needed.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between Wilbur Wright College and Humboldt Park Campus and various (local) off-site outreach locations, as needed.


SALARY & BENEFITS INFORMATION


Salary: $110,000


Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within six (6) months of hire.
