This position serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Dawson Technical Institute and ensures Dawson Technical Institute provides top quality occupation job training and construction industry career development. The Dean assists the President/Vice President in developing and implementing the philosophy, goals, objectives and financial base associated with successful program development and operation of the facility.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, implements, markets and evaluates credit and non-credit training programs for the institute.
  • Ensures that requirements are met for funding agencies, licensing/certification agencies and organizations.
  • Maintains and presents statistics related to student success and placement. Prepares and/or coordinates research and reports on current and potential programs.
  • Selects, trains, and supervises designated staff; evaluates job performance; identifies staffing needs.
  • Supervises and assists instructional and other staff in accomplishing their goals and assist students in the academic and career objectives.
  • Completes annual budget for the facility. Monitors expenditures and ensures they are within budget parameters. Seeks additional revenue by developing grants/proposals to state, federal, and/or private sources to support current activities and initiate new ones.
  • Responds to requests for information about the activities of the program through reports generated by municipal, state, and/or federal agencies. Provides additional information as needed.
  • Promotes the program through written brochures or informational packets and/or verbal presentations.
  • Represents the District/College at various meetings.
  • Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a Master’s degree, Ph.D. preferred, from a regionally accredited institution, supplemented with construction, building, utilities and/or related experience.
  • Five years of teaching experience in a higher education setting.
  • Two or more years of administrative experience as Department Chair, Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, or Program Coordinator.
  • Active participation or exposure to higher education accreditation procedures, articulation processes and program review.
  • Experience in activities that focus on assessment of student learning.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and multiculturalism in one’s work experience.
  • Experience working within a unionized setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a learning environment that fosters student success.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a technologically integrated environment that fosters innovation within a learning organization.
     

The salary range for this position is $104,775 - $130,000. 
Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.
