COORDINATOR – WELLNESS
KENNEDY-KING COLLEGE
The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) Wellness Centers provide counseling, case management and other social services to support students in maintaining their personal well-being and achieving their academic goals.
Located at each of the seven colleges, Wellness Centers provide best-practices mental health and psycho-social services to students, faculty, and staff including: crisis intervention, case management with linkage to community-based resources and public aid programs; individual counseling, support groups, evaluation for learning disabilities, wellness education and outreach; and consultation and training for faculty and staff.
JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to a Clinical Director-Wellness Center, a Coordinator - Wellness Center coordinates the activities of the front office, providing customer service and performing clerical, administrative, and referral services duties to support the delivery of mental health and wellness services to students and staff at the college. Performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Acts as a first point of contact, staffing the front desk, answering the phones, and providing students, faculty, and other visitors to the Wellness Center a welcoming and helpful
environment. - Responds to inquiries, explains the Wellness Centers policies and procedures, and provides information on the Centers services and planned events.
Provides first level of intake, engaging clients and requesting that they complete an intake form to gather general information about their mental health status and services they are
seeking. - Reviews information on intake form, and informs supervisor, clinical counselor, or designated staff person if client indicates he/she is in a high level of distress and in need of
crisis intervention or immediate assistance. - Uses Titanium, a HIPPA-compliant medical records system, to enter data from intake forms, schedule appointments with clinical counselors, and register clients for workshops and
events. - Prepares reports and provides data regarding services provided, clinician hours, and other Wellness Center activities.
- Provides referrals for community-based services and resources. Using a case management approach, assist clients in locating and obtaining free or low-cost services using the
Centers list of resources and related information. - Works collaboratively with staff to plan, organize, and execute events such as Wellness Fairs and health screenings.
- Handles logistics for events, including scheduling and obtaining needed space, tables, chairs, and audio equipment. Ensures participants sign-in for events to track attendance.
- Maintains the Wellness Centers event calendar. Creates flyers to promote events.
- Performs outreach to promote services of Wellness Center. Visits classrooms and provides brief presentations on available services and distributes informational materials.
- Coordinates with the Marketing Department to prepare informational materials to promote services of Wellness Center.
- Attends professional development sessions as directed by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelors s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in a health related, counseling, or social services field.
- Minimum of one year of professional experience in a community, mental health, or social services agency performing intake and/or servicing clients required is desirable.
- A combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration based on the applicant’s credentials.
- Experience utilizing case management and coordinated care techniques required.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or mental health concerns required.
- Ability to assess risk and provide appropriate response required.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Must be able to adhere to confidentiality requirements.
- Knowledge and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students and staff.
- Knowledge of wellness and mental health issues and concerns among college student population.
- Knowledge of office methods, procedures, and equipment.
- Knowledge of correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Skill in event planning and organization.
- Ability to work with and relate to a culturally diverse student body, faculty and staff.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues in an appropriate manner.
- Demonstrates willingness to take on responsibilities and job challenges.

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within six (6) months of hire.
