Reporting to an assigned college administrator, the Coordinator–Student Experience supports the implementation and execution of the college’s student experience programs. The Coordinator works collaboratively with college and district stakeholders to enhance programs and services that support the academic and social transition of students. This position is instrumental in fostering a sense of belonging, promoting student engagement, and advancing efforts aimed at improving retention, success, and equity outcomes for new students. Performs related duties as required. Some evening and weekend work is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Assists in coordinating and executing college-wide programs for students, including orientation, success workshops, academic alerts, welcome events, and other activities that foster a sense of belonging.
  • Collaborates with college leadership and staff to support working partnerships across departments as well as with faculty to ensure seamless integration of student support efforts.
  • Supports the planning, organization, and execution of major events such as new student convocations, welcome days, and open houses and other activities.
  • Coordinates events and activities that connect students to the campus community, including co- curricular programs, student organizations, and academic support services.
  • Supports the tracking and reporting of student participation in programs and assists with analyzing data on enrollment, engagement, and retention.
  • Assists in making presentations at various events to promote and market student experience programs and services. Works with the marketing department to assist in developing student-facing materials and outreach strategies.
  • Assists with the evaluation of student experience initiatives, researching and applying promising practices to continuously enhance student support efforts.
  • Supports the compiling, organizing, and maintenance of program and student data and assists in preparing internal reports for program improvement and decision-making.
  • Participates in work teams focused on identifying student needs, service gaps, and strategies to improve the student experience.
  • Helps develop opportunities for academic and social engagement that foster a sense of belonging among students during their whole academic cycle.
  • Serves as a resource to students by connecting them to available college services and providing ongoing support during their first year.
  • Performs related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Student Affairs, Social Sciences, Business or related field required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in student services or a related field in a higher education setting.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at management’s discretion.
  • Experience planning and coordinating events, programs, or workshops.
  • Knowledge of student development theory and best practices preferred
  • Knowledge of first-year student program best practices as well as principles and theories that strengthen resiliency factors for first-year students preferred.
  • Knowledge of academic support structures relating to student retention and success preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel between campus and satellite locations as needed.
  • Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

SALARY AND BENEFITS INFORMATION

  • Salary Range: $61,006 – $67,106
  • Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within six (6) months of hire.
