COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID ADVISOR I

Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, seeks a qualified College Financial Aid Advisor I who will counsel and provide information to college applicants regarding student financial assistance programs and performs related duties as required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Counsels and advises students, parents and other interested parties on the availability of student financial aid programs to assist in meeting college education costs.

2. Interviews students applying for financial aid assistance, answers questions regarding eligibility requirements and informs them of the types of financial aid available including grants, loans and work/study programs.

3. Assists students in completing financial aid applications and reviews submitted applications for accuracy and completeness.

4. Uses a personal computer to verify student eligibility for Federal, State and college based financial aid assistance programs.

5. Prepares and maintains manual and computerized permanent records and files of financial assistance awarded to students.

6. Monitors student’s academic status to insure they continue to meet eligibility requirements for financial aid awards.

7. Refers students for employment placement in work/study program.

8. Maintains records, work reports and time sheets for students enrolled in work/study program; may act as a field liaison explaining work/study program to potential employers.

9. Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence Standards.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Graduation from high school or the equivalent plus two years of college supplemented by at least two years of responsible clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

2. Some knowledge of applicable financial aid software. Knowledge of financial aid procedures in a college setting. Knowledge of financial aid programs.

3. Ability to operate a personal computer; perform basic math computations; interpret college and financial aid policies and procedures.

4. Good interviewing skills. Good verbal communication skills. Good human relations skills.

Salary Information:

Salary Range:  $61,136 - $64,193

Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday-Wednesday: 9:15am - 5:15pm

Thursday: 10:15am - 6:15pm

Friday: 8:30am - 4:30pm

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

         Ability and willingness to work at multiple Wilbur Wright College locations, including Wright College - Humboldt Park Campus, based on operational needs. Wright College - Humboldt Park Campus is a key extension of Wright College's instructional and student support services.

         Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends to support registration, enrollment, outreach, financial aid workshops, student orientation programs, and special events.

         Ability and willingness to travel locally to support outreach, recruitment, enrollment, and financial aid events.

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
