Associate Dean – Student Development

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Reporting to the Dean of Student Development, an Associate Dean - Student Development provides leadership in the management and direction of departmental functions to ensure the effective delivery of student development services. Works collaboratively with the Dean in managing programs and staff, implementing new initiatives; and overseeing day to day operations. Student development services to include: Athletics and Recreation, Career Services, Transfer Center, Student Activities, Wellness Center, Veterans Affairs, and Access, and coordination with the Registrar’s Office and Financial Aid Services.
An Associate Dean - Student Development leads and manages the college’s academic advising functions, directing a staff of College Advisors and support staff in providing high quality services and ensuring a seamless advising and transition for new, current, traditional. and non-traditional students. Provides leadership and supervises the Director of the Office of Student Veteran Services.
An Associate Dean - Student Development also provides management oversight of the college’s Athletics Department, working collaboratively with athletics staff and key stakeholders to ensure quality athletic programs and commitment to the personal development and academic achievement of each student athlete in compliance with CCC’s Athletic Governance Policy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Supports and serves as a liaison to student areas and various departments to include student activities, career services, admissions and assessment, registration, financial aid, registrar’s office, and public safety for the efficiency of operations and delivery of services.
• Supervises College Advisors providing services to assist and support students at every stage of their education, including exploring educational and career goals, academic planning and course selection, goal setting, and career and transfer support.
• Works collaboratively with Athletics staff to foster an environment for coaches to provide quality services and effective coaching to student athletes.
• Evaluates assigned staff in accordance with agreed upon deliverables for core goals/objectives; District and campus policies; and collective bargaining agreements.
• Maintains records according to requirements and needs of the college and its programs.
• Serves on committees as assigned campus and district level.
• Works with instructional departments to implement strategies for improving student retention and graduation Coordinates with college administrators to implement initiative such as early enrollment to assist students in achieving their academic and personal success.
• Works with Dean and key stakeholders in reviewing student conduct complaints citing violation of student conduct policy per the Academic and Student Policy manual. Advises students of student conduct complaint, college’s student conduct policies and behavioral expectations.
• Collaborates in the leadership and direction of the Early College Programs Office.
• Coordinates with the Office of Instruction to assess and implement strategies that enhance policies and practices.
• Provides leadership to the Office of Student Veterans Affairs. Directly supervises the Director and assists int the development of engaging activities that develops our student veteran community.
• Supports the Director- Intercollegiate and Intramural Athletics in providing guidance to coaches and student athletes on issues of conduct and compliance with athletic policies, CCC policies, and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) regulations.
• Monitors data on student retention, completion. Ensures student development and student learning outcomes are tracked and assessed.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Direct Supervision College Advisors, Director of Veteran Affairs, support staff
• A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Management, a Social Science discipline or related area
• Five years of supervisory/management level experience in education administration, preferably in higher education, in areas such as assessment, career services, or counseling.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing student confidentiality and other student related issues
• Ability to effectively plan, assign, direct, and evaluate the work of department staff.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public.
• Ability to develop and promulgate effective policies and practices.
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) as well as specialized software applications including the college database system.
Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.
