ASSISTANT DEAN – EARLY COLLEGE & MATRICULATION
KENNEDY-KING COLLEGE

City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education. The Assistant Dean-Early College and Matriculation is responsible for planning, operations, and assessment of the college’s Early College initiatives. The Assistant Dean position serves as a member of the college administrative team and is responsible for developing and implementing matriculation that support students’ preparedness for post-secondary success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Builds relationships with strategic partners and community-based organizations to recruit, enroll and sustain long term alliances.
  • Projects enrollment and prepare the budget for the Early College Program.
  • Collaborates with advising, admissions, and student support services to develop and implement enrollment and admissions processes and plan for all Early College students.
  • Manages dual credit partnership requests including application review, faculty credentialing, maintaining constant communication with CPS District Staff, CPS principals, counselors, teachers, and programmers.
  • Develops and tracks annual benchmark goals for Early College that include enrollment, retention, program, and partnership goals.
  • Oversees the operations and activities of the Early College Program including preparing course scheduling, delivering of program supports (i.e., orientation, convocation, tutoring), and ensuring the academic integrity of the curriculum and instruction.
  • Supports faculty coordinators and dual credit Instructors in the Early College Program.
  • Implements annual dual credit faculty professional development.
  • Assists with enrollment and admissions for dual credit and dual enrollment.
  • Leads onboarding of early college students and POI faculty.
  • Conducts community outreach to support early college growth and expansion.
  • Coordinates with Marketing and Recruitment to support enrollment initiatives for the Early College Program.
  • Leads communication efforts to share successes of Early College with larger audience.
  • Maintains fidelity to college standards for all dual credit and dual enrollment courses and articulation initiatives with secondary institutions.
  • Plans professional development for dual credit coordinators and adjuncts; plans mentoring and orientation activities for students enrolled in the Early College Program.
  • Completes reports in compliance with Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) guidelines.
  • Works with Institutional Research to regularly assess early college initiatives and operations.
  • Develops quarterly reports related to benchmark goals for Early College Program.
  • Creates and implements matriculation plan to increase the number of early college student conversions to CCC following their early college experience. Works with student services to develop first year experience plan for this population.
  • Implements summer bridge courses and programs to support new (early college, high school, non-traditional, developmental, etc.) students’ transition to CCC.
  • Collaborates with key CPS and CCC staff to develop credit articulation and matriculation agreements for CTE high school students. Works collaboratively with the Perkins Grant Program Coordinator in developing funding plans for programs of study.
  • Works with stakeholders to support state-wide efforts under the Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness Act.
  • Develops and implements equity initiatives that target under-served populations before their transition to CCC.
  • Serves as the liaison between the college and secondary partners by planning and coordinating meetings and establishing program expectations.
  • Supports the Office of Instruction with day-to-day operations.
  • May serve as evening administrator and Saturday administrator for the College on a rotating basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Public Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Three years of work experience as a college administrator, program chair, faculty member, or related program management experience.
  • Demonstrated supervisory, administrative, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of planning, program development, evaluation, and budgeting, preferably in a community college setting. 
  • Direct experience managing relationships between college faculty and high school partners.
  • Demonstrated experience with recruiting, orientation, and in person presentations to high school students and parents.
  • Self-starter with the ability to conduct multiple projects concurrently, both independently and as a member of a collaborative team, with the ability to assess current operations in an effort to innovatively improve the future goals of the District.
  • Proven organizational skills and supervisory ability. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to build trusting, long-term relationships, and networks with stakeholders at all levels including district office, high-school partners, communities, students, etc. 
  • Ability to work with and relate to a culturally diverse student body and staff.
  • Ability to maintain an environment that fosters excellence in customer service.
  • Ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within six (6) months of hire.
