ADJUNCT FACULTY - LINGUISTICS (PART-TIME)
TRUMAN COLLEGE
We at Harry S Truman College are looking to build our pool of talented, dynamic adjunct instructors for the spring semester and beyond. If you have passion for teaching and learning and are committed to the mission of the community college, consider joining our team. Ideal candidates have the appropriate Master's degree and are adept at teaching both in-person courses and online synchronous courses using Zoom.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Instruct online asynchronous, in-person classes, or online synchronous classes using Zoom
· Demonstrate flexibility in learning and using course-related texts and/or materials, Brightspace learning management system, Faculty Center in my.ccc.edu, and Navigate
· Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps them problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies
· Hold office hours before or after class to help students reach their academic, personal and career goals
· Foster a classroom environment that respects the diversity of people and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn
· Participate in department-wide meetings and assessment outside of class time
QUALIFICATIONS:
· M. A. in Linguistics.
· Teaching experience at the college level preferred.
· Excellent verbal and written skills required with the ability to communicate persuasively with tact and diplomacy.
· The ability to work in a culturally diverse work environment.
· Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.
· Has a disposition towards developing the competencies outlined in the City Colleges Academic Excellence Pillars.
· Knowledge of Brightspace or similar Learning Management System preferred.
· Prior experience with online teaching (via Zoom) and/or online teaching certification preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft office applications.

Salary Range: $800 - $943/contact hour
The rate paid is in accordance with City Colleges approved salary scale.
