Harold Washington College is currently seeking a part-time faculty to teach Biology. Applicants who have experience working with diverse student population and can create an inclusive climate are ideal for this position. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· You must demonstrate excellence in teaching, commitment to integrating new technologies in the learning process and the ability to inspire, motivate and empower students to succeed.
· Design courses to meet learning outcomes, and promote students’ active participation in their own learning.
· You are required to post your syllabi on Bright Space, return all graded assessments to the students promptly and to enter your midterm and final grades online on time.
· Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies. Encourage students with research possibilities.
· Maintain office hours so you are available to the students outside classroom hours and meet with other faculty members and department chair when necessary.
· Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academic and professional communities and promote collaboration and teamwork among members of these communities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Doctoral or master’s degree in biology, Medical Sciences, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Zoology, Animal Sciences, Environmental Biology, Genetics, Anatomy and Physiology, or an MD degree.
· Previous teaching experience is preferred.
· Excellent Oral and written communication skills preferred.
· We prefer candidates with knowledge of Bright Space Learning Management System.

Salary Range: $800 - $943/contact hour
The rate paid is in accordance with City Colleges approved salary scale.
